Congratulations to the State-Bound
Junior High Science Olympiad Regional Champions
Two Years Running!!!
Early in the morning on Saturday, February 26, 2022, the Junior High Science Olympiad Team traveled to Maryville, Missouri to compete in the all-day-long Regional Science Olympiad, where they brought home the first-place trophy!?! The team will join our High School Science Olympiad Team as they BOTH head to Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri to compete there on April 9. Our school will now be sending a total of 29 students to state between the two divisions--WOW! (Please Note, the State tournament was moved this year from Westminster College at Fulton, Missouri to MSU in Springfield, Missouri, to allow for Social Distancing measures at a larger campus.) Coach, JH/HS Science Teacher Mrs. Tuanette Hulet, is VERY proud of the team. She knew the Junior High team had the potential to do very well at competition, but with such a young team, and only two of the members having had the chance to ever experience an in-person meet, she was starting to get a little worried when illness, inclement weather, and the like started to affect the team’s ability to practice in their usual manner. She need not have worried, because even when two contributing members were unable to compete, the rest of the team came together and pulled through! Junior High Science Olympiad team members headed to state are freshmen—Katelyn Jones, Gunnar McCrary; eighth graders—Annabelle Gardner, Gavin Humphrey, Collin Mason, Jeremy Pittsenbarger, Kavinly Rutledge; seventh graders—Karlee Anderson, Addie Crone, Jayden Goble, Addi Iddings, Caden McCrary, Lilly Yost. Every student who attended today, medalled multiple times! This is also the third year in a row the Junior High team has made it to state, collectively, as a team!

The team would like for everyone to know that, despite what it might look like with their scores, there WERE more than three teams at the competition, lol, !
Additionally, Mrs. Hulet wants to give a very special personal shout-out to bus driver Mary Cruthis and Senior/A+ Tutor Ryelin Hulet, for being a second and third set of hands at competition, especially in the morning when everyone was getting acclimated. They helped to get everyone get where they needed to be, when they needed to be there, with everything they needed to have with them at the time. Without their help, our team would not have been able to have lived up to their maximum potential, and their contributions needs to be recognized, as they were a true asset to our school and team! Thank-you Mary and Ryelin!!!
