Track Athletes to Participate at State Event
The Panthers will be represented at the state track meet in Jefferson City Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19 by: Sofia Nunn in wheelchair shotput; Peyton and Cameron Jones in Long Jump and Triple Jump, and Brett Curtis in High Jump. Peyton jumped 19'10" in the long jump to place second, with Cameron finishing in third with a jump of 19' 8.5". The Jones brothers placed first and second in the triple jump with Peyton's jump of 43'3" and Cameron's jump of 42' 9 1/4". Curtis cleared 6'2" to earn a second place finish. Trevor Ireland finished fifth in both the 110 and 300 Hurdles with times of 17.02 and43.83. Kirsten Slessman cleared 4'9" in the high jump to place seventh.
Other sectional finishes included the 4 x 200 Relay team finishing sixth, and the 4 x 100, 4 x 400, and 4 x 800 teams finishing eighth. The teams are coached by head coach Dan Dreesen and assistant Heather Jones.
